New to fuel cards

Q. I only spend a small amount (£1500 and below per month). Why should I choose a fuel card over a credit card?
A. Fuel cards give you an itemised bill showing all your transactions, enabling you to claim back VAT on all fuel purchases and unlike a credit card, you won`t be charged interest. Fuel cards also limit drivers to certain fuel stations, eliminating use at more expensive sites in the UK, and some offer discounts on diesel.
Q. How secure are fuel cards?
A. Invoices show all transaction information, including date, time, place, volume, product type and value, grouped by either card number or vehicle registration. This allows you to easily cross reference invoices with vehicle activity, minimising the risk of fraudulent drawings.

See 'What happens if I lose my fuel card?' for further information about security.
Q. Where can I use fuel cards?
A. All fuel cards offer access to a selection of fuelling stations across the UK. Some cards run on specific networks, including BP, Shell and Esso, and others offer multi-branded network solutions, such as Keyfuels and Route Mate, which operate on a network of 'bunkering' stations, including BP, Esso, all Morrisons supermarket stations and other independent stations.
Q. What price will I pay for my fuel?
A. Different fuel cards offer their own pricing structure, which will either be pump price, or fixed price, so how much you pay, and how you pay will depend on your choice of card.

For example, euroShell or Esso Single and Multi Fleet cards all work on a 'pump price' structure, giving access to a network of stations with locally competitive pricing policies, so you pay the price displayed on the forecourt. A range of cards including Keyfuels, Texaco Fastfuel, Shell CRT and Esso Truck, work on a 'fixed' or 'bunker' price structure. These cards operate on a fixed weekly price based on the bulk fuel market, i.e. fuel is bought at bulk price and bunkered into the network for you to use. This price is usually below the national average pump price and can offer significant savings.
Q. How much do I have to pay for my fuel cards?
A. The only fee is an annual card charge, so thereafter you only pay for the fuel you use. We can occasionally offer certain fuel cards free of charge.
Q. Can I limit my cards to purchase fuel only?
A. Yes. Most fuel cards can be restricted to certain purchase options e.g. diesel only, fuel only, fuel and lubes or all products. Purchase options differ from card to card.
Q. What happens if I lose my fuel card?
A. We operate a 24-hour stop facility for lost or stolen fuel cards, so cards are stopped within 24 hours of notification. We also offer cards with a 'Zero Liability' option, which makes us liable for purchases on lost/stolen cards from the moment you inform us. Once you notify us of card loss or theft we will place the card(s) on stop and order replacements on the same day.
Q. How do I apply for a fuel card?
A. The quickest way to apply is by visiting www.fuelcards.co.uk and completing an online application. We can also email/fax you a copy to complete and return by fax or post
Q. When will I receive my fuel cards?
A. Applications are processed within 10-14 working days. Please allow a further 7 days for your cards to be printed and delivered.
Q. Can I have a drivers name and a registration on my card?
A. Your company name will be printed on your cards as standard and then you can choose to include the driver name, vehicle registration or both. You could even choose to have card numbers, such as 1, 2, 3 etc...
Q. What is a 'multi branded' card?
A. A multi branded card gives you access to more than one 'brand' name of station i.e. Shell, Esso, Morrisons and more.
